Product Care Guide

To get the best performance and longevity from your Brush Candy products, proper care is essential. Follow our care guide below to keep your makeup brushes and blenders clean, hygienic and in excellent condition.

Makeup Brushes

How to care for your brushes

Regularly cleaning your makeup brushes helps remove product build-up, excess oils and bacteria that can accumulate within the bristles. This supports good hygiene, helps maintain brush performance and reduces the risk of product build-up contributing to breakouts.

We recommend deep cleaning your brushes at least every two weeks, or weekly if needed, depending on how frequently you use them.

How to clean your brushes

  1. Wet the bristles with lukewarm water, keeping the handle and metal ferrule (the section connecting the bristles to the handle) as dry as possible.
  2. Apply a small amount of antibacterial cleaner or a gentle brush cleanser.
  3. Gently swirl the bristles over your hand to loosen and remove product build-up.
  4. Rinse thoroughly under lukewarm running water until the water runs clear, taking care not to submerge the brush.
  5. Gently squeeze out excess water without pulling or tugging at the bristles.

Important: Avoid soaking your brushes or allowing water to enter the ferrule or handle. Excess moisture can weaken the adhesive, damage the handle and cause paint to crack or peel. Clean the handle separately using a suitable antibacterial wipe, avoiding excessive moisture.

How to dry your brushes

  1. Gently squeeze out excess water and lightly press the bristles against a clean towel.
  2. Reshape the brush head and leave it to air dry on a clean, dry towel, ideally with the bristles pointing slightly downwards. Alternatively, position the brush so that the head sits lower than the handle, allowing moisture to drain away from the ferrule.
  3. Allow your brushes to dry completely before storing them in a brush holder, belt or enclosed container.

Avoid drying your brushes upright while wet, as water can collect around the ferrule and handle. Never use a hairdryer, radiator or other direct heat source, as excessive heat can damage the bristles, adhesive and handle finish.

Makeup Blenders

How to care for your makeup blenders

For the best results, we recommend gently washing your makeup blender before each use. This helps remove residue from previous applications and prepares the blender for use.

Our Giant Bubblegum Blenders are designed to be used damp for a smooth, seamless makeup application. Wet your blender thoroughly and allow it to expand before use, then gently squeeze out any excess water.

Handle your blender with care during application and cleaning. Avoid pulling, scratching or applying excessive pressure, as this can cause the material to tear.

For hygiene and performance, we recommend replacing your makeup blender approximately every three months, or sooner if it begins to deteriorate, tear or become difficult to clean.

How to clean your makeup blenders

  1. Hold your blender under lukewarm running water until it is fully damp.
  2. Gently work a mild bar soap or suitable blender cleanser into the material.
  3. Massage the blender lightly to loosen makeup residue, allowing the soap to create a gentle lather.
  4. Rinse under running water while gently squeezing the blender to release the soap and product build-up.
  5. Repeat until the water runs clear and no cleanser remains.
  6. Gently squeeze out excess water. Do not twist, wring or aggressively rub the blender.

Important: Our blenders feature a delicate material that requires gentle care. Avoid scrubbing against rough surfaces, digging your nails into the material or squeezing too forcefully, as this may damage the blender. Do not leave your blender soaking in water for prolonged periods.

How to dry your makeup blenders

After cleaning, gently squeeze out excess water and leave your blender to air dry on a clean, dry towel in a well-ventilated area.

Allow it to dry completely before storing it in a makeup bag, drawer or enclosed container. Your blender will naturally return towards its original size as it dries.

Avoid storing your blender while damp, as trapped moisture can encourage mould and bacterial growth.
